Alexander Ivanovich Barayev Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, academician of the All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences named after Lenin, Lenin Prize Laureate, Hero of Socialist Labor.
Barayev A.I. (07.16.1908-08.09.1985) prominent scientist, Hero of Socialist Labor, Lenin Prize laureate, academician, honored worker of science of Kazakhstan, doctor of agricultural sciences, professor, chief agronomist of New land.
The name of academician Barayev Alexander Ivanovich is widely known not only in Kazakhstan, but also far beyond its borders. The Kazakh Order of Red Banner of Labor and Grain scientific-research institute (nowadays named after him) deservedly earned fame and recognition as the vanguard of Kazakhstan agronomic science, not only in our country, but also far beyond its borders - Russia, Ukraine, the Caucasus, Mongolia, India, Bulgaria, etc.
A.I. Barayev is the founder of the soil protection system of agriculture, based on soil treatment with flat-cutting tools with preservation of stubble and plant residues on the surface of the field, thanks to which it became possible to obtain stable crops of grain crops in the zone of dry steppes.
Three main goals were solved in this system: protecting the soil from erosion, preserving its fertility and maximizing moisture accumulation. Soil-protective farming methods have entered the fields of Western Siberia, Altai Territory, Orenburg, Saratov, Volgograd, Rostov, Nikolayevsk, Zaporozhsk, Poltavsk and other regions of Russia and Ukraine. For the development of a soil-protective farming system in 1972, A.I. Barayev awarded the Lenin Prize. He was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor.
Alexander Ivanovich Barayev has published more than 350 scientific papers and three books: “Soil-protective farming”, “Spring wheat”, “Spring wheat in Northern Kazakhstan”. He was awarded the orders “Badge of Honor”, “October Revolution”, two Orders of Lenin, medals of “For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945”, “For the Development of NewLands”, “For Labor Valor”, “Twenty Years of Victory in The Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 ”,“ For Valiant Labor to Commemorate the Centenary of the Birth of V.I. Lenin "," Thirty Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945".
