Within the framework of international scientific cooperation in the period from 18.06.22 to 30.06.22, with the financial support of the US Embassy in Kazakhstan, on the basis of “KSU named after Korkyt-Ata” JSC (Kyzylorda), professors of Michigan State University (USA) held lectures and practical classes for young scientists engaged in the fields of ecology and nature management. Representatives of eight Kazakhstani scientific institutions took part: “Kyzylorda State University named after Korkyt Ata”, “International Kazakh-Turkish University named after KozhaAkhmetYassaui”, “Taraz Regional University named after M.Kh. Dulati”, “Zhetysu State University named after I. Zhansugurov”, “Kazakh Agrotechnical University named after S.Seifullin”, “Kazakh National Agrarian Research University”, “Aktobe Regional State University named after K. Zhubanov”. Young scientists Zhanzakov Bakhtiyar and AkhylbekovaBalzhan took part from the Scientific and Production Center named after A.I. Barayev.

The event was attended by Dr. Jikwan Chen, Professor, Faculty of Geography, Ecology and Spatial Sciences, Center for Global Change and Earth Observations, Michigan State University; Dr. Ginger R.H. Ellington, Associate Professor, Faculty of Geography, George Washington University; Dr. Pelei Feng, Professor and Interim Director of the Center for Global Change and Dr. Wei Feng, Associate Professor, Department of Biology, Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, Pace University; Dr. Norman A. Graham, Professor of International Relations and Honorary Director of the Center for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies, James Madson College of Public Affairs, Michigan State University; Dr. Ranjit John, Associate Professor, Department of Biology and Department of Sustainable Development, University of South Dakota; Dr. Colt W. Knight, Associate Professor, Livestock Specialist, University the state of Maine.

The topics of theoretical classes were extensive, ranging from remote sensing of the environment, landscape ecology, community ecology, pasture ecology, urban ecology and sustainable development, environmental research design, sustainable development in a disturbed global economy to a biophysical model in ecosystem analysis. In parallel, field exercises were provided: measuring the temperature of the soil, water, measuring the purity of the air and determining the species composition of local vegetation.

The young scientists of the Center expressed great satisfaction with their participation in the scientific event with the involvement of high-level foreign scientists, lectures and practical classes were informative and productive from the point of view of international scientific practice.
