The round table was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, breeders and scientists in the field of agro-industry, The QazTrade Center for Trade Policy Development Joint-Stock Company, Non-commercial JSC "National Agrarian Science and Educational Centre", “National Agency for the Development of Innovations “QazInnovations” JSC, “Science Fund” JSC , “Astana Business Group BM LTD” LLP,“Kazakhstan Association of Sugar, Food and Processing Industries”, “Research and Production Center for Grain Farming named after A.I. Baraev" LLP, NJSC “S.Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University" and NJSC " Zhangir Khan West Kazakhstan Agrarian Technical University”.
During the meeting, topical issues of creating innovations in the field of agro-industry, recent achievements, the relevance of legal protection and the possibility of commercialization, as well as the importance of the Republic of Kazakhstan joining the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) were discussed. Also at the event, presentations were made on a new object - geographical indications.
The participants actively discussed the issues of Kazakhstan's accession to UPOV, revealing both positive aspects and possible risks.
