May 9 is the Great Victory Day

  We have been living in peacetime for 79 years now. We are very grateful to the courage and heroism of those soldiers who defended the great Victory at the cost of their lives. This is a Day of mourning and sorrow for those who gave their lives untimely, showing miracles of heroism. The day of honoring the memory of those who returned to the hard times of war raised the country. In memory of all the valiant countrymen who fought mercilessly in the battles against fascism and those who worked day and night in the rear.

  Today, ceremonial meetings were held in Damsa and Stepnoye settlements at the obelisks of Glory to fallen soldiers-countrymen, here are only a few hundred WWII veterans and home front workers left in Kazakhstan, who are already over 90. These days, internationalist veterans who fought in Afghanistan and also those Kazakhstanis who took part in the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident deserve tribute. They are the last generation today who have seen the horrors of war and catastrophes on a scale similar to military events that had incredibly terrible consequences.

  Their traumatic past has affected their health, but they work as much as possible and show an active civil position, being leaders of public opinion in their villages.

  On the eve of this landmark date, all of them do not remain without attention and care from the state, their labor collectives and fellow countrymen. Our large team did not stay away either.

  We visited the families of our honored fellow countrymen of the district Shabuni Yuri Alexandrovich, Ganziev Mikhail Saidamovich, Medvedev Pyotr Yemelyanovich, Nikolaeva Roza Nikolaevna, Matrosov Vladimir Alexandrovich and Retslav Viktor Albertovich talked with them warmly, from the bottom of our hearts, having received the energy of optimism and kindness, we did not find someone at home because we were at work. Live long our Heroes, charge us with your kind aspirations and bright creative energy!
