News
On December 10-11 of the current year, on the basis of the Scientific and Production Center of Grain Farming named after A.I. Barayev (hereinafter the Center), a meeting of the Coordinating Board was held to hear interim scientific reports for 2024 and objectives for 2025-2026 on STP BR 22885719 «To develop and implement sustainable farming systems for cost-effective agricultural production in a changing climate for various soil and climatic zones of Kazakhstan». The program involves 8 scientific agricultural institutions, 13 basic agricultural enterprises (farms) located in various agro-climatic zones of Kazakhstan, 2 leading German institutes («Institute of Soil Science of Hanover University named after Leibniz», «Institute of Geology and Geography of Martin Luther University»), 1 international organization in Kazakhstan for the production of agricultural tools («Amazone»). The research group of the Program includes leading scientists of the Center and other scientific organizations — co-executors from «Kazakh Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture and Crop Production» LLP, «Southwestern Scientific Research Institute of Animal Husbandry and Crop Production» LLP, «North Kazakhstan Agricultural Experimental Station» LLP, «Kokshetau Experimental Production farm» LLP, «Agricultural experimental station of cotton and melon growing» LLP and «Agricultural experimental station «Zarechnoye» LLP. The Program aims at sustainable agricultural production based on the efficient use of natural resources, agro-climatic potential, intensification of farming systems, water-saving technologies, digitalization means for cost-effective, economic development and environmental safety for various soil and climatic zones of Kazakhstan.
Welcoming the participants of the event, Savin Timur Vladimirovich, Chairman of the Management Board, noted with pleasure that at the current stage of the STP implementation, the connection between science and production is being established more closely, providing scientific support for his research in the farms of the target regions. In recent years, work in this direction has been intensified at the Center and will continue to be updated. In agricultural science, the issues of the development of intensive agriculture are now in the field of view of the entire agricultural scientific community, since they are of applied importance and therefore the scope of its application is expanding due to the ongoing weather and climatic conditions, innovative technological transformations and diversification processes in crop production that have emerged recently. Since 2024, the 19th Program for the implementation of scientific achievements in production has been implemented, which is aimed at activating partnerships between scientists and farmers based on mutual interest in the final results. Also, this year, within the framework of project-oriented financing, the material and technical equipment has significantly improved: a seeder, two harvesters and other necessary technical equipment have been purchased to increase the scientific and production potential of the Center.
Seisekulova Aigul Bakhtybaevna, Chief Manager of the NASEC Science Department, addressed the participants of the event, noting the need for all the work carried out within the Program. At the same time, she stressed the relevance of scientific research contributing to sustainable agricultural production, increasing fertility and, in general, improving soil health, improving agro-climatic potential, intensifying farming systems, water-saving technologies, digitalization means for cost-effective, economic development and environmental safety for various soil and climatic zones of Kazakhstan and wished effective work taking into account the importance of the objectives set.
The moderator of the meeting and scientific coordinator of the Program Akshalov Kanat Ashkeevich, head of the laboratory of adaptive and agro-landscape cultivation technology, presented informative material on the results of scientific research in 2024 and also on the tasks and issues to be solved in the Research Program for 2025-2026.» It is worth noting that in his informative message Kanat Ashkeevich indicated that today the issues of improving the technology of growing crops have been updated, taking into account modern challenges, taking into account natural climate changes, expanding agrotechnical requirements for agricultural working bodies, substantiation and adaptation of new crops. The research is aimed at the development of high-tech, innovative technologies using digital platforms for various soil and climatic zones of the country, the use of new program documents (GIS technologies, Earth remote sensing data and other Internet things). The conducted research was confirmed by photo and video information. Much attention is paid to the introduction of scientific developments at the farm level and commercialization. International cooperation is actively developing.
The work of the Coordinating Board was attended and addressed by invited participants represented by Bisetaev Kairat Serikbaev, Chairman of the Union of Potato Growers, head of the SPC «Eurasian Farm Innovation» on the topic «Challenges and practical solutions», Shortan Sayat, national consultant of the FAO «Agricultural products market: diversification of production and marketing of agricultural crops. Global market: trends», Aslanov Viktor Sergeevich, Chairman of the Field Breeders of Kazakhstan on the topic: Agricultural production and reality .Overview of trends». The analytical reviews of experts on situational transformations in agriculture, their ways and solutions, taking into account modern challenges, were very informative and relevant.
Further, during the hearing of the research reports for 2024 on the implementation of the STP: the heads of scientific projects outlined the novelty of research and the nature of scientific publications and summarized the results of the research in the final part. The presentation of Baisholanov Saken Sovetovich, an expert climatologist on climate change: reality, forecasts, was very interested, in which the indicators of crop production in Kazakhstan were analyzed, agro-climatic, unfavorable weather backgrounds for agriculture were assessed on the basis of scientific research conducted jointly with scientists of the Center.
The work of the second day of the coordination meeting according to the program of the event began with listening to the reports of the performers on the implementation of scientific research. All project managers prepared their presentation materials through the prism of fulfilling the tasks set for the development of soil and resource-saving farming systems based on crop diversification, improving soil cultivation and sowing systems for traditional and new crops, preserving and increasing soil fertility in a market economy and a changing climate. During the event, the leading agricultural scientists of Kazakhstan research institutes Kenenbaev S.B., Ospanbaev Zh., Sydyk D.A. expressed their weighty recommendations on improving the effectiveness of the methodology of scientific research. The scientists of the Center Dashkevich S.M., Zabolotskikh V.V., Kochorov A.S. and others reflected on the ongoing work on the implementation of the Program in their reports, while noting the integrated approach in the development and novelty of scientific research. Thereby confirming the leading position of our Center and its commitment to the academic spirit and ideas laid down from the beginning of its formation.
Further summarizing the research results of the co-executors, project manager Utelbaev Yerlan Amanzholovich summed up the results of the work for the current period and outlined the tasks for further productive implementation of the Program for 2025-2026, based on which priority is given to strengthening collaboration with agricultural producers, timely submission of scientific recommendations and writing scientific publications. In conclusion, the expert group of the Program determined the work program for 2025, prepared an analytical note on the financing of scientific research for 2024.
