The state of snow retention works at the SPC GF named after A.I. Barayev

In the winter of 2025, snow retention measures in the fields of «SPC GF named after A.I. Barayev» LLP are carried out in accordance with agrotechnical requirements, taking into account autumn moisture charging and the state of compaction of agrophones.

According to the agronomic service of the center, upon reaching a natural snow cover of 10-15 cm in fields with deep frost treatment after grain crops, where the autumn moisture charge did not exceed 50-60 mm, snow retention was carried out with SVU-2.6 trailed snow plows in a unit with a K-744 tractor. The distance between the passages of the unit was determined taking into account the height of the formed snow rolls, according to the recommendations of the center. In areas where the snow cover exceeded 20 centimeters, snow retention was carried out using a SVSH-10 (wedge) cannon in combination with a K-701 tractor.

Monitoring data on the moisture charging of fallow fields before going into winter showed a complete soaking of the soil profile to a depth of more than 1 m, therefore, the assimilation of winter precipitation during the snowmelt period in these areas will be minimal. In this regard, additional accumulation of snow on fallow fields is impractical and increases the risk of developing areas of water erosion.

From January 15 to January 20, snow removal was carried out on an area of more than 210 hectares. After examining the remaining agrotechnical backgrounds, the work will continue.
