Scientific and Production Center of Grain Farming named after A.I. Baraev Holds Academic Council Meeting

An Academic Council meeting was held at the Scientific and Production Center of Grain Farming named after A.I. Baraev (SPCGF), chaired by Yu. Yu. Dolinny, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for Research. The agenda focused on current matters relating to the Center’s research and plant breeding activities, as well as the results of research conducted under program-targeted funding.

One of the key agenda items was the approval of recommendations arising from research conducted under the program-targeted funding in 2024–2026. Presentations were delivered by B. Zh. Zhanzakov, Head of the Precision Farming Laboratory; A. I. Kurbanbayev, Head of the Laboratory of Field Crop Agronomy and Crop Diversification; B. R. Irmulatov, Head of the Agrochemistry and Fertilizer Laboratory; and V. I. Kobernitsky, Head of the Grain Forage Crop Breeding Laboratory. The speakers presented their research findings, key scientific achievements, and practical recommendations developed from the project outcomes.

The Academic Council also considered the submission of new crop varieties for State Variety Testing as part of the activities implemented under program-targeted funding. V. I. Kobernitsky, Head of the Grain Forage Crop Breeding Laboratory, and E. A. Ten, Head of the Grain Legume Breeding Laboratory, presented information on promising breeding developments and the characteristics of the new varieties.

Particular attention was given to the monograph titled “Gluten Proteins as the Genetic Basis of the Processing Quality of Wheat Grain.” M. U. Utebayev, Head of the Laboratory of Biochemistry and Technological Assessment of Crops, reported on the preparation of this scientific work.

Following the presentations, the Academic Council held a constructive discussion of the materials and adopted the relevant decisions on the matters considered. The meeting concluded with a review of the Center’s current activities matters.
