The harvesting of spring durum wheat at a given pace has been completed in the fields of the A.I.Barayev SPCGF. These days, the employees of the laboratory of breeding of spring durum wheat of intensive type, headed by the head of the laboratory Zhylkybayev R, S. continue work on the selection of seed materials for the next year's harvest. In general, despite unfavorable weather conditions, the results of this year's harvest are pleasing compared to last year, the yield of the variety "Lavina" was 30%, the variety "Korona" -24%, the variety "Damsinskaya Jubileinaya" -17%. All of them belong to the steppe ecological type, according to their characteristics, they are resistant to soil and air drought, differ in stable quality of gluten, therefore, they are recognized as promising for cultivation in the northern regions of Kazakhstan.
The breeders were not let down by the new varieties of durum wheat, which are on variety testing, confirming their quality characteristics.
