News
Employees of the laboratory for breeding leguminous and oilseeds began the planned winter sowing of selectively valuable varieties and lines of leguminous crops (pisum sativum, lens culinaris, cicer arietinum), in order to obtain a promising starting material and the subsequent involvement of the resulting hybrids in the breeding process. Samples for sowing were evaluated and selected from the most prominent selection numbers for a number of economically valuable traits, primarily, such as yield, non-flooding, drought tolerance, high protein content and, in the case of lentils, high attachment of the lower legume or tall plants.
The temperature throughout the entire period of seedling of legumes should be strictly regulated and be 19-24 degrees Celsius. Leguminous crops germinate in a greenhouse complex, on average, 4-5 days. At a lower or higher temperature in the box, growth may slow down, so it is highly desirable to maintain the recommended temperature regime.
