The National Agrarian Research and Education Center is to be transformed into a vertically integrated agrotechnological hub. The President of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev announced this today in his message, APK Novosti reports.

“Modern agriculture is a high-tech industry. Land and climate are no longer a determining factor in the success of farmers, innovative solutions have come to the fore. Without modern science, the situation in the industry will not only stagnate, but worsen. Measures should be taken to develop agricultural science, and most importantly, its practical application in agriculture,” the President said.

According to him, the National Agrarian Research and Education Center will be transformed into a vertically integrated agro-technological hub.

“It is also necessary to establish full-fledged scientific and practical cooperation with recognized foreign centers of agroscience. We will support private scientific and technological initiatives and adapt educational programs to the needs of the agricultural sector,” K. Tokayev also noted.

Serious reforms are ripe in crop production.

“It is necessary to diversify crops, increase the areas of highly profitable crops, reduce water-intensive and monocultural crops. It is necessary to focus on providing farmers with domestic seeds, breeding and cultivating new productive varieties,” the president said.
