Seed exhibition for farmers in Astana

The conference “Seed Day “Tukym-2024” dedicated to topical issues of seed production was held in Astana. Kazakhstan Conference-Contraction “Seed Day “Tukym-2024”, which has become traditional and the only one dedicated to the issues of breeding and seed production, annually gathers representatives of government agencies, industry non-governmental organizations, international participants, as well as domestic breeders, seed farms, seed sellers and agricultural producers.
The event brought together leading experts and specialists in the field of agriculture and seed production, creating a unique platform for exchange of experience, debate and development of cooperation.

The main objectives of the conference were to study and discuss the latest trends in seed production, search for innovative approaches to the production of high-quality seed material, as well as to improve the quality and efficiency of agrarian crops.
At the conference there were speeches of speakers on actual topics of seed production development in Kazakhstan, provision of seeds, fertilizers and PPP for 2024 and exchange of experience and best practices from leading agricultural producers.
In his speech, Baurzhan Kassenov, Chairman of the Board of “National Agrarian Scientific and Educational Center” NJSC, outlined important issues related to seed production and its role in the development of the agricultural sector. He emphasized the need to improve existing technologies and methods of seed production.
In the third session of the conference “Resources for increasing productivity and ensuring seed quality” experts discussed the issue of the current state of seed supply for spring field work in 2024.

Moderator of the session, Chairman of the Board of “Scientific and Production Center of Grain Farming named after A.I. Barayev” LLP, Savin Timur, PhD in Biological Sciences presented a report on the topic: “Wheat breeding for climatic conditions of Kazakhstan”.
Within the framework of the Conference, an exhibition of seed material, products of seed farms, and suppliers of PPP and fertilizers for the SFW of 2024 was organized. According to the results of the rating of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, awarding of enterprises for outstanding achievements in the field of breeding and seed production took place. The Center was awarded in the nomination “Originator of the most widespread varieties in 2023” for the largest areas of crops sown in Kazakhstan with crop varieties from the breeding of SPC GF named after A. I. Barayev.
