The National Academy of Sciences will gather agricultural scientists to decide how to avoid natural disasters

  The system of agricultural scientific research will be changed in Kazakhstan in order to avoid further natural disasters. On April 19 in the Akmola region on the basis of the Scientific and Production Center for Grain Farming named after A.I. Baraev, a visiting meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be held on the topic: «The role of agricultural science in adapting agriculture to natural disasters,» reports the agency " APK News «.
  „Now we are all witnessing how rapidly the climate is changing; Kazakhstan is faced with either drought or, conversely, floods and other disasters; these natural disasters have a serious impact on agriculture, causing colossal losses. In these conditions, the role of agricultural science increases many times over, which must promptly offer optimal solutions to not only existing but also future problems and thereby ensure the sustainable development of the industry. This approach today is the main direction of development of science in all technologically developed countries, where the state actively supports scientific research, but we still have not realized this simple truth about the need for priority development of agricultural science in the context of global natural challenges,“ the Academy of Sciences reported.
  During the off-site meeting of the Presidium of the Academy, issues will be considered on changing the system of organizing agricultural scientific research, transforming the activities of the management company NANOC in accordance with the experience of countries — technological leaders, improving the training of highly qualified specialists in the field of agriculture and water management, creating the necessary conditions for attracting people to agricultural science young scientific personnel and other problems related to the development of the scientific support system for the agro-industrial complex in the context of global natural challenges.
  At the meeting, the President of the Board of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Kurishbaev, the Chairman of the Board of NJSC „NANOTS“ B. Kasenov, the International Expert of FAO, the World Bank A. Morgunov, the Chief Scientific Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences I. Tokbergenov will make a report. Members of Parliament, vice-ministers of line ministries, the head of the Bureau of Communications and Partnerships in the Republic of Kazakhstan of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the permanent representative of the World Bank in the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of agribusiness and leading scientists of agricultural science will take part.
  Based on the results of the on-site meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences, a corresponding analytical note on the development of agricultural science and personnel training in the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be prepared.
