The SPC of Grain Farming was visited by leading ICARDA expert Dr. Zakaria Kehel

As part of international cooperation, Dr. Zakaria Kehel, Research Team Leader on Genetic Resources, conservation, characterization, and use, and national coordinator from Morocco within the ICARDA programme, visited the Scientific and Production Centre of Grain Farming named after A.I. Barayev. He was assisted by Dr. Akmal Akramov, Senior Researcher on Sustainable Land Management, National Coordinator for Uzbekistan, Bakytzhan Arystanbek and Makpal Bulatova, Project Managers at the Islamic Organisation for Food Security.
During the working visit, representatives of international organisations familiarised themselves with the activities of the SPC GF, its breeding achievements, and discussed key issues related to the modernisation of breeding work and the use of constructive tools to expand research using an international database on breeding programmes.
The overview of topics discussed also included issues related to the professional development of specialists and the development of human resources in the field of genetic resources and breeding. In conclusion, Dr. Zakaria Kehel expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and readiness to further expand international scientific cooperation within the research programmes and the exchange of experience.
