The staff of the Scientific and Production Center of Grain Farming named after A.I. Barayev congratulates with the 80th Anniversary of Okovitaya Raisa Nikitichna, the veteran of science.
The glorious work biography of this scientist-breeder is directly connected with scientific activity in one of the well-known research centers in the world scientific community - SPC of Grain farming named after Alexander Ivanovich Barayev. Over half a century of work, Raisa Nikitichna has passed all stages of scientific growth and today she is rightfully one of the leading breeders who have made a significant contribution to the study of the gene pool, issues of increasing drought resistance, inheritance of economically valuable traits by hybrids, biology of flowering and increasing the efficiency of hybridization, in the creation of source material and new varieties in cereals and grain forage crops.
Okovitaya R.N. is one of the authors of 5 zoned varieties of spring soft wheat: Tselinnaya 20 (Kurgan, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg region, Bashkiria), Tselinnaya 21 (Akmola, Kokshetau, Kostanay, Pavlodar, Torgai, Semipalatinsk regions), Tselinnaya 26 (East Kazakhstan region, Altai Territory, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tomsk, Tyumen region), Tselinnaya 60 (Altai Territory, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tomsk, Tyumen regions), Shortandinskaya 95 improved (Akmola, North Kazakhstan region), 5 varieties of spring durum wheat: Damsinskaya 40, Raya, Lavina, Damsinskaya yantarnaya (North Kazakhstan), Korona (Akmola, Karaganda region), Sabir barley, 6 varieties of oats: Ishim 14, Ishim 18, Ishim 48, Damsinskaya fodder, Shalkar, Bitik (Akmola, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar, West Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan regions). All these zoned varieties are recommended for production and serve as the basis for integrating the center's research into the global innovation process.
For many years, Okovitaya Raisa Nikitichna worked as part of the All-Union Coordinating Committee on Grain Crops. She was repeatedly encouraged by certificates of honor, commendations, cash prizes, awarded the silver medal of VDNH for the results achieved in her work and the medal “Veteran of Labor”, the Commemorative medal “Academician A.I. Barayev, 100 years since his birth”, her scientific developments were reflected in 50 scientific publications.
Behind the shoulders of this remarkable scientist is a worthy school of life, a rich experience of scientific and social activities, which she was able to fully realize.
Deep knowledge, rich professional experience allowed her to solve the topical issues and gained great authority among a wide range of foreign and domestic agricultural scientists and agricultural producers.
And today, Okovitaya Raisa Nikitichna has been a mentor for many generations of young scientists.
