In 2026, the Scientific and Production Center of Grain Farming named after A.I. Baraev published the monograph “Gluten Proteins as the Genetic Basis of the Processing Quality of Wheat Grain” by Maral Uralovich Utebayev, Candidate of Biological Sciences and Head of the Laboratory of Biochemistry and Technological Assessment of Crop Quality.
The 137-page monograph examines the genetic diversity of gliadin- and glutenin-encoding loci in soft and durum wheat and their relationship with the processing quality of grain. It explores the genetic mechanisms underlying wheat quality, the allelic polymorphism of prolamin-encoding loci, and the potential application of the findings in wheat breeding.
The publication is of both scientific and practical interest to specialists in wheat genetics and breeding, biochemistry, and grain science and technology, as well as to researchers working with plant genetic resources, university lecturers, and postgraduate students.
