On 6 November, a presentation of the monograph “Scientists of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Grain Farming: Control of Soil Erosion on the Virgin Lands of Kazakhstan” by scientists Musagaliyeva Arailym Sabitovna, and Musabekova Roza Madenietovna, from the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov. In it, the authors explore issues related to the history of the establishment and activities of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Grain Farming, beginning with the creation of the Shortandinskaya Agricultural Experimental Station in Akmola region and the formation of the Kazakh Scientific Research Institute on its basis, until it acquired the status of all-Union significance, as well as the role of its employees in developing scientific approaches to control soil erosion in the virgin lands of Kazakhstan. The monograph is based on a wide range of sources, including documents from central and local archives, which are being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
Welcoming the participants of the event, Chairman of the Board Savin Timur Vladimirovich noted that the history of the Grain Farming Centre is not just a history of scientific discoveries and production achievements. It is, above all, a story of people – researchers, organisers, enthusiasts whose perseverance, dedication and belief in the power of science helped to create a powerful scientific and industrial base that has remained the leader in agricultural science for decades. He continued by saying that today the Centre continues the best traditions of domestic agricultural science, combining fundamental research with practical solutions for the sustainable development of agriculture in Kazakhstan. In the current context of global change, climate-oriented requirements for production efficiency and environmental friendliness have been raised, and we are actively introducing innovative farming technologies aimed at preserving soil fertility and increasing crop yields. In 2026, our Centre will celebrate its 70th anniversary, and on the eve of this significant milestone, today’s event is of particular importance to our Centre and will mark the beginning of a series of upcoming important anniversary events.
On behalf of the staff, Timur Vladimirovich expressed his deep gratitude to the authors of the monograph, Musagalieva A.S. and Musabekova R.M., the editorial team, and everyone who participated in the preparation of this monograph for their tremendous contribution to the preservation of scientific heritage and the sharing of the history, achievements, and values of the VNIIZKh scientific school with future generations of scientists.
During the event, speeches were also given by Abdrakhmanova Gulnar Zhenisovna, Akim of Damsa Rural District, Kanat Ashkeevich Akshalov, leading scientist at the Centre, head of the agricultural landscape and adaptive technology laboratory, member of the Public Council of Shortandy District, Roza Kapazovna Azdembaeva, director of a private supplementary education school, public opinion leader, and Raisa Nikitichna Okovitaya, a veteran scientist, who emphasised that the monograph reflects the rich past, achievements and traditions of the institute, demonstrates the continuity of generations of scientists and serves as an important source of knowledge and inspiration for young scientists.
