A successful example of partnership between science and production in the fields of the Zharkinsky region

In his annual address to the people of Kazakhstan, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev mentioned the need to develop applied agricultural science as one of the priorities.
Scientists from the “Scientific and Production Centre of Grain Farming named after A.I. Baraev” held a field day at the “Zher 1” LLP facility, dedicated to the introduction of innovative practices in agricultural production in the Zharkainsky District of Akmola Region. Various agricultural technologies for growing the Shortandinskaya 95 improved spring soft wheat variety were demonstrated.
The aim is to increase the efficiency of crop production, taking into account climate change and soil quality.
Throughout the current season, from agrochemical field surveys to seed preparation, from sowing to harvesting, scientists at the SPC of Grain Farming named after A.I. Barayev provided comprehensive scientific support for the entire process of growing the Shortandinskaya 95 improved spring soft wheat variety. Various demonstration experiments were conducted on an area of more than 600 hectares. In addition, observations were made and operational recommendations were provided throughout the growing season.
Yields in the various trials ranged from 13.2 to 15.4 c/ha, which is a good indicator given the soil and climatic conditions of Zharkinsky district. The yield on the control production site was 12.5 c/ha. The use of these technologies also made it possible to improve the quality of grain from the pilot sites.
It should be noted that “Zher 1” LLP is one of six pilot farms in Akmola region where a project is being implemented to disseminate and introduce innovative practices with the support of the Department of Agriculture and Land Resources of Akimat of Akmola Region.
