On July 4-5, 2023, the second International Forum on Agro-biotechnology was held on the basis of the National Center for Biotechnology on the topic «Biotechnology for ensuring food security and resilience to climate change». The initiator and the main organizer was the Islamic Organization for Food Security in partnership with the OIC Standing Committee of Ministers for Scientific and Technical Cooperation. The main focus of the Forum was to discuss the latest achievements in the field of biotechnology of plants, food and animals. Scientists, researchers and experts from the OIC member countries gathered at the International Forum (Azerbaijan, Cameroon, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Malaysia, Morocco, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the UAE had a wide opportunity to discuss the problems of biotechnology and its significant role in strengthening the food security of countries, sharing the results of the latter research and discussion of how biotechnology of plants, animals, microorganisms can help increase productivity, strengthen resistance to pests and diseases, create new products with increased value and ensure food security within the following view.
The speaker at the plenary session of the Forum was Irina Viktorovna Rukavitsyna, PhD, Head of Microbiology of the SPC GF named after A.I. Barayev. She outlined her scientific vision on the impact of microbial biologics on the symbiotic potential in the creation of new varieties of perennial legumes.
