Scientists of the SPC of Grain Farming named after A. I. Barayev continue testing a new wheat variety.
- “Taimas” is currently being tested, but it is already showing good results: the grain ripens in 90-95 days, has a high yield and is resistant to drought and diseases. By the way, our novelty has already been appreciated in the fields of “Belagash” LLP, informed Elzhas Kairzhanov, head of the laboratory of spring soft wheat breeding at the SPC of Grain Farming.
He noted that by the reporting date, a total of 104 varieties had been certified and the work of the Center’s breeders on breeding new varieties of wheat, oats, barley and other crops was actively continuing.
– The highest demand is still for wheat. Agricultural producers prefer “Shortandinskaya 95”, “Akmola 2” and “Astana”. We get excellent recommendations for the varieties “Shortandinskaya 2012”, “Shortandinskaya 2014” and “Astana 2”, - said the scientist of the Center.
